Privacy Policy

Overview

CloakShare is an open-source document sharing platform. This policy applies to the cloud-hosted service at cloakshare.dev. If you self-host CloakShare, your own privacy policy applies.

Data we collect

• Account data — Email address and hashed password when you register.
• Uploaded files — Documents and videos you upload for sharing. Files are stored encrypted and deleted when you revoke the link.
• View analytics — Viewer email (if email-gating is enabled), device type, country, time spent, and pages viewed. This data is shown to you in your dashboard.
• Usage data — API request counts for billing purposes.

Data we don't collect

• We don't use third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
• We don't sell or share your data with advertisers.
• We don't read your uploaded documents.

Data retention

Your files are retained as long as the link is active. When you revoke a link, all rendered pages and video segments are permanently deleted from storage. Account data is retained until you delete your account.

GDPR

You can request export or deletion of all your data by contacting us. We process data under legitimate interest (providing the service) and consent (account creation). View analytics are processed under the legitimate interest of the link creator.
